One of my most recent collections has been applied to bedding. My drawings are now embroidered! Love that! My vivid colors are in their full glory on comforters, sheets, pillowcases, bedskirts, shams and throws...soon to be strutting their stuff at the New York Home Fashions Market, September 19th-22nd with Mytex Home Fashions. OK I know that sounds more like a tweet than a post, but we are excited at the studio.
See that modern chain graphic. It is now embroidery on sheets and decorative pillows, but it originated in an illustration I created for a recipe for limoncello. My drawing of lemons seemed ho-hum, so I created that modern pattern to act as the pulp of the lemon...who would have thought it would eventually become an embroidery.
Mixing patterns is a favorite design element of mine, and I am lucky to be working with a licensee that is even better at it.
Too much color for you? Lose the neutrals and brighten your life. You should see how this collection lights up a room and puts a smile on your face. The black and white accents give it some gravitas. Whenever I see this color combo I think of a Key West sunset.
When I was drawing the zinnia I wanted to create a flower that was more of a misfit than a perfect blossom. Imperfect creates interest. Ooh...pretty.
